Mad Gyms & Kitchens celebrates Bobby Baker’s top tips to getting well. 

She developed the show out of her own experiences of illness and hard-won recovery.

We brought Mad Gyms & Kitchens to Newcastle, Stanley, Stannington and Morpeth. Audiences were treated to playful demonstrations of how she achieves that ultimate ‘wellbeing’ factor – from working-out to chilling out, via the kitchen sink – literally.

Designed in collaboration with sculptor Charlie Whittuck, an extraordinary set of fantastical ‘recovery’ apparatus as well as state-of-the-art technical equipment, all developed with wellbeing in mind, were brought to life by Bobby’s stories and top tips.

At each show, audiences were invited to share their own Top Tips for wending their way to wellness over a biscuit and a brew. Since the shows, Bobby has been collating these in a Top Tips book that can be seen here (we especially like the ginger cat).
